Interpersonal Skills are those abilities, attitudes, and competencies centered on relationships and interactions with other people.  Interpersonal skills are also referred to as social skills or people skills.  They are a set of skills that include a vast array of other skills from communication and listening to teambuilding and leadership.  These skills can enhance a person’s ability to communicate with, understand, and motivate both individuals and groups.

Strong relationships are a key driver in success, and strong relationships start with good interpersonal skills. Having good skills such as collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution allows you to build relationships with others.  

 

 

Developing Interpersonal Skills

Interpersonal skills are becoming more and more a necessity in business, sports and education.  Development of the these skills is a key goal of many business and team initiatives.  Good interpersonal skills are often a prerequisite for many positions in an organization. They want people who will work well as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
