 Learning strategies

Incorporating effective strategies into your daily activities is essential for educational success.  The more strategies you are able to use the more successful you will be.

In order to become a successful learner, you need to understand your learning processes and how you learn best.  You should start by what interests you and what motivates you to learn.  Then you should understand your own learning and style.  There are several learning style test and other resources that can help assess an individual's learning style.  By understanding your own particular learning style, you can better understand your strengths and your limitations.  Then place yourself in a situation to be successful.

After you find out what your preferred learning style is and what motivates you, you want to understand how to “learn how to learn.”  Learning how to learn involves acquiring the knowledge and skills to learn effectively in various situations.

A part of learning how to learn, you will discover learning strategies that you will be able to employ in various situations to enhance your learning.  Learning strategies include note taking, study habits, test taking, collaboration, and other techniques to make instruction meaningful.
