Goal setting is a formal process for personal planning. By setting goals on a routine basis, you decide what you want to achieve, and then you systematically move towards the achievement of those goals.
Lifetime / Capstone / Foundational / Provisional
Lifetime goals are those major goals that you would like to accomplish over your lifetime.
Capstone goals are commonly those key goals you will need to accomplish first before you accomplish your lifetime goals.
Foundational goals are those short-term goals that will most likely be accomplished in less than one year.
Provisional (stepping-stone) goals are usually stepping-stones to the larger goals.
Write your goal down in a precise, positive statement. The best goals are fully defined visions of how you want things to be. The more specific, measurable, and challenging the goals are the more motivated people will be in attaining them. Set a deadline for the achievement. Put a date on it. Goals are dreams with deadlines.
